Please check back for more updates regarding our 50th year here at Blackhawk Lake! We will be adding updates about July 30th and with be getting new 50th year clothing that will be included here as well!

On July 4th of the year 1972 the ribbon was cut on Blackhawk Lake and it was open to the public. An area that was once made up of the Narveson, Cave Hollow, and Baker Creek trout streams now holds a 220 acre lake that is enjoyed all year by guests from near and far.

It is hard to believe that over 50 years ago this area consisted of just site number 9 of the Otter Creek Watershed. Now with nearly 165 sites (including overflow sites) Blackhawk Lake greets over a thousand guests each weekend from the end of May to early October. We have some very busy summers!

The success of Blackhawk Lake Recreation Area would not be possible without our management team , summer staff, commission board, volunteers, and all of our wonderful guests who continue to come back year after year. We would like to take this summer to celebrate all past, present, and future staff, commission members, and guests. We would not be able to maintain this beautiful park without all of you!

We will continue to make our primary purpose to provide quality land and water based recreation for the people of Iowa County and beyond. So come and join us this summer as we celebrate this hidden gem in Southwest Wisconsin!
